Sample of Student Production: Fall 2020

Band - Grades 5-12

The Band Department at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts has spent the last five decades providing intensive musical education to our young musicians.

Studying under Master teachers, students will acquire advanced-level musical understanding and proficiency through their studies and performances.  At graduation, students will be equipped for higher-level studies in music.  Students are active in solo playing, small and large ensemble work, and rigorous music theory and music history courses. Music courses are fully credit-bearing and meet every school day.  Students have the opportunity to study voice, guitar, orchestra or piano as a minor concentration.

String - Grades 5-12

The Orchestra and Guitar programs at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts have had a very long and brilliant history.  Our tradition of excellence in performance is the result of the dedication of our students and their commitment to achieving the highest possible standards.  Our teachers are passionate, experienced and provide care, structure, and challenges for our students.

The string ensembles are for students grades 5-12 studying guitar, violin, viola, cello, and bass.  Activities will include rehearsals, concert performances, recitals, lessons, field trips, playing tests, studio classes, daily practicing, online and written assignments.

Vocal - Grades 5-12

The Vocal Music Department has a long history of training emerging vocal artists to be well-rounded, expressive musicians, prepared for college programs and professional careers.

Our program is centered around performance to enrich the lives of students, and audiences, with the music of diverse genres & cultures.

We have a rigorous curriculum that enables creative composition, songwriting & musical development for all students.

Our ensembles have an exciting performance schedule both in the school & out in the community.  Students who complete the curriculum will receive an advanced-level musical understanding & proficiency to equip students for higher-level studies in music.

Music courses are fully credit-bearing & form a prominent part of every school day.
